What is CBD Oil?
WHAT IS CBD OIL?
We are frequently asked, “What’s the difference between CBD, hemp, cannabis, and marijuana?”
If you are new to CBD, it can be difficult to put the pieces together. We’ll attempt to clarify because there is, indeed, a difference.
29 States in the United States, have some kind of law on the books protecting THC-containing cannabis. It’s important that we make clear the difference between Mor products and others that you might buy.
HEMP AND CANNABIS: IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
When trying to understand the differences between hemp and marijuana, it’s important to realize that both come from the same species; cannabis. However, there is a stunning diversity of chemical and morphological variation within the species.
The complex variations are described in “ A Practical and Natural Taxonomy for Cannabis ” from 1976:
“Both hemp varieties and marijuana varieties are of the same genus, Cannabis, and the same species, Cannabis Sativa. Further, there are countless varieties that fall into further classifications within the species Cannabis Sativa.”
A HIGHLY COMPLEX FAMILY OF CANNABIS PLANTS
The difficulty in understanding the difference between hemp and marijuana stems from the chemical complexity of cannabis. Hundreds of natural compounds, called cannabinoids, can be found in cannabis plants. The difference in classification is based on the concentrations of these natural compounds.
The two most studied cannabinoids are:
WHAT IS TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL (THC)?
THC is the psychoactive, controversial cannabinoid responsible for feelings of euphoria, or a “high”.
WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL (CBD)?
CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid which has gained recent prominence as a remarkable wellness-enhancing substance. CBD has shown to be beneficial to human health when ingested orally or spread on the skin in a topical cream.
STUDIES ON CBD
CBD has attracted a lot of attention in the past few years. A new national conversation is taking place regarding cannabis, and the undeniable health-promoting properties of CBD has taken center stage.
If CBD is controversial, that controversy is completely manufactured. A quick Google search will quickly get you up to speed and in on the conversation.
Though they seem similar there is a big difference between hemp oil, cannabis oil and CBD oil.
WHAT IS HEMP SEED OIL?
Hemp seed oil is a hemp extract taken from the seeds of the plant. Industrial hemp is the only plant used for this type of hemp oil. The seeds of the hemp plant can be cold-pressed to create a delicious oil.
The seeds, however, are not an abundant source of cannabidiol (CBD).
Hemp seed oil is known for its delicious flavor and for high unsaturated fat content, including Omega-3 and Omega 6 fats.
WHAT IS CANNABIS OIL?
Cannabis oil is made by extracting the resin of female cannabis plants, and blending the extracts with hemp seed oils, or other types of oils to facilitate ingestion. Recent innovations have changed the way that people use the THC-rich plant material. This oil is usually high in THC levels and illegal in most states.
WHAT IS CBD OIL?
Mor has extracted an oil from the whole hemp plant. Hemp flowers contain a specific oil which contains negligible THC, but maximizes CBD content.
We utilize a CO₂ extraction method which squeezes resin from input plant material using extreme pressure, so there is no need for harsh solvents.
Our CBD-rich resin is then mixed with either Hemp Seed Oil, MCT Oil, or organic vegetable glycerin as a delivery agent.
We believe that nature got it right; and we avoid anything that compromises the purity of our products.
